Registration

PHLYTRI has added the Couples Challenge to the Sprint Distance Race.  The Couples Challenge is a fun, two-person team "event within the event".  You don't need to be a "couple".  Your Couples Challenge teammate can be a friend or family member. 
 
Here's how it works: When you register, complete the "Sprint Distance Race - Individual" online registration form, but select "I would like to compete in the Couples Challenge" to form a two-person team. You should still register as an Individual, not as a Relay Team.  Select a Couples Challenge team name and input your Couples Challenge teammate's name.  Make sure that you and your Couples Challenge teammate both input the same team name when each of you registers.  When you register, you should still select one of the following Divisions:
 
Age Group
Elite Amateur
Clydesdale
Athena
Physically Challenged
 
You will start in wave and compete with others in your Division.  There will not be a separate Couples Challenge wave.
 
Scoring and awards will be determined based on lowest total sum of the Division places of the two Couples Challenge team members.  For example, if one team member places 14th in the 35-39 Age Group, and the second team member places 10th in the Clydesdale Division, the total score is 24.  In the case of a tie, the team with the highest total age will be the winning team.  You will still be eligible for Age Group and other Division awards, and Division results will still be sent to USA Triathlon for USAT rankings.
 
If you and/or your teammate have already registered for the Sprint, you may still participate.  Just send an email to Gretchen at gretchen@phillytri.com stating your interest in competing in the Couples Challenge with your name, your Couples Challenge Team name and your teammate's name, and indicate that you have already registered for the Sprint, and you'll be included.
 
In addition to the Couples Challenge award, the winning team will receive an all-expense paid overnight getaway to a luxury hotel in Center City Philadelphia.  So register for the Sprint NOW, and feel the love!
